Who we are

The Dark Blue Book (app.darkbluebook.com) is run by Aquitude Group Limited, company number 12236834, registered office Studio 202, 30 Red Lion Street, Richmond, TW9 1RB, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Write to us at [email protected].

People in the book

The book is a reference to the business of yacht racing: the people, teams, clubs, organisations and events in the sport, and how they connect. Many of the people in it have never signed up.

What we hold

Your name; your roles and relationships in the sport (for example "trimmer at a team", "chief executive of an event", "owner of a boat"), with dates where known; the nation you sail or work for; and the public source each relationship came from.

Where it comes from

Public sources about the sport: press releases, team, class and event websites, published results, and news reports. Readers and members also send corrections.

Why, and on what basis

We rely on legitimate interests: publishing an accurate reference to a professional sport and its business, about people in their public, professional roles. We don't include private life, home addresses or private contact details.

Your choices

Use Report an error on any entry to correct it. To see what we hold about you, or to object to being in the book, email [email protected]. We'll weigh your request against the public interest in an accurate record of the sport, and tell you what we've decided and why.

If you apply to join

What we collect

Why, and on what basis

To consider your application and, if you're accepted, to provide your membership: steps you ask us to take and the membership agreement between us. We use the links you give, LinkedIn especially, to check who you are.

Who sees it

How long we keep it

Membership is for people aged 18 and over.

Reports and feedback

When you use Report an error or Send feedback we keep your message, your email address and, if you give it, your name, so the editors can act on it and reply. Only editors can read them. We delete reports once they're dealt with and no longer needed, and within 12 months of being closed.

Signing in, and your browser

Sign-in uses a one-time link sent to your email; there are no passwords. Your browser stores your sign-in session and the view you last chose on the map. These are needed for the site to work, so we don't ask for cookie consent. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.

Like any website, our hosting providers log technical details of requests, such as IP addresses, to run and protect the service.
